In addition to volumising the lips, dermal fillers can restore balance and proportion, address asymmetry, define the vermillion border, correct drooping mouth corners, and smooth the fine lines around the mouth, often known as smoker’s or barcode lines.
How are dermal fillers used to enhance the lips?
The gel-like dermal fillers we use for lip enhancement treatments are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is found throughout the body, and in the dermis, it works as a powerful humectant, meaning it attracts and binds water, providing youthful plumpness and fullness. These dermal fillers are temporary, as the product is safely broken down by the body. At CK Dental, we only use gold-standard products that have passed rigorous safety tests.
How can the lips be enhanced?
Lip enhancement can address several concerns:
- Volumise the vermillion, which is the fleshy part of the upper and lower lip, to add fullness and projection
- Define the vermillion border or lip outline
- Smooth the fine perioral lines that surround the vermillion border, which are known as lipstick, smoker’s or barcode lines
- Define the Cupid’s bow
- Support and lift the drooping corners of the mouth, known as oral commissures
- Reverse the marionette lines, also known as puppet lines
- Add structure to the philtrum ridges that go from the upper lip towards the nose
