LIP ENHANCEMENT

Lips play an important role in the overall symmetry of the face and are essential for conveying emotion and expression. Full, well-defined lips are associated with youth and beauty. Suitable for both men and women, our lip enhancement treatment can augment naturally thinner lips or address lips that have become thinner due to age.

In addition to volumising the lips, dermal fillers can restore balance and proportion, address asymmetry, define the vermillion border, correct drooping mouth corners, and smooth the fine lines around the mouth, often known as smoker’s or barcode lines.

How are dermal fillers used to enhance the lips?

The gel-like dermal fillers we use for lip enhancement treatments are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is found throughout the body, and in the dermis, it works as a powerful humectant, meaning it attracts and binds water, providing youthful plumpness and fullness. These dermal fillers are temporary, as the product is safely broken down by the body. At CK Dental, we only use gold-standard products that have passed rigorous safety tests.

How can the lips be enhanced?

Lip enhancement can address several concerns:

  • Volumise the vermillion, which is the fleshy part of the upper and lower lip, to add fullness and projection
  • Define the vermillion border or lip outline
  • Smooth the fine perioral lines that surround the vermillion border, which are known as lipstick, smoker’s or barcode lines
  • Define the Cupid’s bow
  • Support and lift the drooping corners of the mouth, known as oral commissures
  • Reverse the marionette lines, also known as puppet lines
  • Add structure to the philtrum ridges that go from the upper lip towards the nose

Lip Enhancement Frequently Asked Questions

The lips are very sensitive, but we can numb the area with a local anaesthetic cream before your procedure. Our products contain lidocaine, so the treatment is usually well tolerated.

You will see the results immediately. However, the lips will be slightly swollen, so it will take a few days to see the final result.

The mouth is a very mobile and expressive area of the face, so lip enhancement results do not usually last as long as in other areas. Typically, you can expect the results to last between six and 12 months before you need a follow-up treatment.

After your treatment, you’ll experience temporary swelling, which will subside over the next couple of days. You may have some redness and tenderness at the injection sites, and mild bruising can often occur.

Lip enhancement is typically a very satisfactory procedure; however, in rare cases, it may not meet expectations. An injection of hyaluronidase can reverse the treatment.

Why choose a dentist for your facial aesthetic treatment?

Facial aesthetic treatments have become incredibly popular in recent years, but lack of regulation in the industry means that they are often offered by individuals who do not have the necessary training and experience to ensure a safe and satisfactory outcome.

We would always advise you seek a suitably qualified medical professional to carry out your facial aesthetic treatment as it is essential that not only can your practitioner deliver the aesthetic outcome you want to achieve, but also to avoid and manage any unwanted complications.

Dental professionals have a unique position in the facial aesthetics industry, and there are several reasons why they are best qualified to carry out these procedures.

Dentists possess a deep understanding of facial anatomy and the tissues of the face, including the muscles, bones, and nerves.

A dentist will have trained for a minimum of five years, gaining artistry, clinical dexterity, and core anatomical knowledge.

A dentist will likely have performed thousands of pain-free injections throughout their career.

You can be assured of a high level of patient care in a safe, clinical environment.

You can also expect a high level of discretion as nobody will question your reasons for visiting your dentist.
